Multiple IMAP Connections

Hello,

We switched our email accounts over from POP3 to IMAP last night and every couple of minutes Outlook was giving me an error message saying that I had been disconnected from the IMAP Server.

After doing a lot of research I realized it was doing this whenever another program would attempt to login to my email account such as my blackberry or from the web side.

Could anyone provide me any assistance in fixing this?

Thank You

I do not believe I ever installed dovecot.

If you are running Directadmin powered server, you've got there Dovecot installed as POP3/IMAP4 server.

First check dovecot logs in /var/log/mainlog on the server, then update dovecot settings as user scsi already suggested.

Do you know where the file for dovecot would be? This is an older server with DA and I looked for the installation files per the setup of Dovecot but I did not see them there.

Hello,

I found dovecot.conf.rpmsave in /etc but all of the settings in the file are commented out (#). Any recommendations? If that is the correct file, what would I need to edit to allow multiple connections? Sorry to be a noob about this.

Apache 2.2.13 Running
DirectAdmin 1.40.1 Running
Exim 4.68 Running
MySQL 5.0.67 Running
Named 9.4.2 Running
ProFTPd 1.3.1 Running
sshd Running
vm-Pop3d 1.1.7f-DA-2 Running
Php 5.2.10 Installed

Seems you are running quite a bit of outdated software. You should read the custombuild section on how to update the software. php 5.2 is no longer supported by php.net and is insecure. Your exim is very out of date. vm-pop3d should be changed to dovecot.

Thanks guys,

I really don't know how to do any of this. I had someone set the server up for me about three years ago. I would be willing to pay someone to get me all updated if anyone is willing.

Thanks

I guess we both can do it for you, or you can find somebody else in advertising sub-forum. So feel free to PM anybody of us for a quote.
