what i read from

/usr/local/directadmin/conf/directadmin.conf

the my.cnf file should be at

mysqlconf=/usr/local/directadmin/conf/mysql.conf

but what i read from the post here

we should put my.cnf at

/etc/my.cnf

which is correct? will there any conflict if i use both? which one is preferred for DA?

The /usr/local/directadmin/conf/mysql.conf file tells DA how to login to MySQL and create/modfy databases, it has nothing to do with the my.cnf file that configures how MySQL starts. That file (my.cnf) goes in /etc/my.cnf by defaut.

sorry for the confliction, i now notice the difference, thanks.

FYI, there is only mysql admin's username and password in this file:

mysqlconf=/usr/local/directadmin/conf/mysql.conf
