Hi guys

First thing I did when I got my first VPS and first Directadmin today was try to install an SSL certificate by asking for a CSR. So I found this tutorial on the internet:

http://nl.globalsign.com/en/support/ssl+certificates/directadmin/directadmin/generate+csr/

It says to go the user level, and that there I will find a section called 'Advanced Features'.

However, when I click on User Level I get a mostly empty page and a tab that says 'Domain Administration.'

The closest I get to 'Advanced Features' is on the Admin Level, but even there it's only called 'Extra Features'.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong? Should I contact my host's support?

Cheers.

Hello,

To install a SSL certificate go to User level, choose a domain and click on the (icon) SSL Certificates.
You should have a domain added to do that.
More information you can find here: http://www.site-helper.com/ssl.html
If you already have have a domain and you can't find the option for SSL certs, then contact your host.

To what are you trying to apply an SSL certificate? Your DirectAdmin login? Or your site?

If your DirectAdmin Login, look here; scroll down to: Setup SSL Certificates.

If for your site, then the instructions on the GlobalSign site are written specifically for the main site hosted by the admin user. To get to the right place to do this for your site owned by a user created by your main or other reseller you need to first log in to the DirectAdmin control panel as that user.

If this is all beyond you search the DirectAdmin advertising forum; we (and maybe others) sell low-priced GlobalSign Certificates as well as all other GlobalSign Certificates, including a low-priced installation service.

Thanks guys.

I believe I got it right, however just to make sure.

I guess the test for my certificate to be working right, is when I see that both Http://mydomain.com and https://mydomain.com direct to the same webpage.

Would this be about right?

That is what I'm getting.

What I did. Well,

I generated the CSR at my DA, then recieved it in the mail and added it once I clicked on the CA Root option, where I clicked the checkbox 'Use CA', added the (encrypted?) CSR response I recieved from Comodor Positive SSL guys.

Since you didn't tell us the right domain name there's no way we can look into the details of the Certificate to make sure it's properly set up.

So you're on your own.

Jeff
