Hi,

I created a new email address and added a forwarder to have it forward to 2 other email addresses. But none of the mail is staying on the server, so when I login with SquirrelMail my inbox is always empty, And the emails are only forwarding to the first email on the forwarder list. I tried the forward emails in 2 different formats: [email protected],[email protected] and [email protected], [email protected] with a space, neither seems to make a difference. One forwarder was to hotmail.com which I've read has problems, so I added a gmail.com and an aol.com. The mail only goes to the first address on the list, the aol.com one.

Thanks for any help!!!!

Are you asking about a virtual email address built within a domain name created on the server, or the email address created automatically when the domain name is created?

The former should forward properly unless you've made changes to the exim.conf file. Mine do, and I wrote that exim.conf file.

If you're writing about the latter, then note that once you create a forward the original address will NOT get any email.

If your server isn't working this way and you haven't changed your exim.conf file, then you may need support to log into your server. If you bought your DirectAdmin license directly from the DirectAdmin website then you can get support from them.

Thanks

Thanks! Yeah, it's a virtual email. I thought that it would stay on the server anyway, like it does with other control panels I've used. I didn't realize DirectAdmin let's you forward or save it but not both. Does it also only let me forward it to just one account? Because even though 3 are on my forward list, the emails still only go to the first on the list. Otherwise, thanks for enlightening me.

You misunderstood my post, which may not have bene as clear as it should have been. For virtual mailboxes DirectAdmin should behave as you expect. If you've not changed exim.conf, then I don't know why it's not performing as it should. See my notes in my first reply above about getting support.
