mysql conection error

this is what i see when trying to creat a new database or anything

Error connecting to MySQL: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!

but the rest of the direct admin seems great thanks

if you're running mysql on the same server, it's because your mysql server is down. Try to restart it first

this is the screen from the service monitor and system information

i see no restart for mysql but i only see a start stop function and in the infirmation screen it shows mysql is already running
