MYSQL just gave up

I was working on one of my sites and mysl died on me

I tried using both the control panel and the root access to reboot it

when I do a shutdown it says failed and when I tell it to start it works.

But its not running

I check back to the control panel and it shows as stoped

I am on Freebsd 5.2.1

and I just ran the mysql reinstall :

Please report any problems with the ./bin/mysqlbug script!

fixed it

went to the directadmin scripts and just reinstalled did a clean install on everything , then copied the mysqld to the rc.d directory and everything was back up and running

just wierd though how it went down.
