mySQL problem

Hi,

i make a fresh install of DA today...But i got this problem when i try to use the mySQL database
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (12)


I have tried to re-install mysql with no sucess cause I got the same error message.

The mysql server is running but I can't connect to it.

how are you trying to connect to the mysql server. is it using a PHP / Perl script? Or is it on the server through SSH?

looks like i have a similar issue.for me the reason is probably that i changed my server name and from that point on. it somehow tries to start mysql 2 times.

i am still trying to resolve this. but what do you see in the /home/mysql

(one pid file or two and the {servername}.err what does it or they say?

you can find these files in /home/mysql
