Mysql problem

I am stuck in this part of the repair guide,
Error connecting to database using password yes.

Now we need to make sure it's setup correctly for DA to use. Edit /usr/local/directadmin/conf/mysql.conf and set

user=da_admin
passwd=newdapass


4) Test it out in DirectAdmin.

The problem is i am only getting permission denied /usr/local/directadmin/conf/mysql.conf
When i am logged in as root trough SSH using putty.
And yes i also have a vps server with full root access.
I am stuck here so please help me out
