I tried this in MySQL section but no answers so i am trying here now with more info on problem

Everytime my computer crashes or restarts MySQL can't connect (in so many words)

I ps xa | grep mysqld and get 4 instances running.

if i try to start or stop via command line or Direct admin either i get a n error "blah blah port is already in use blah bla shotdowm mysql" or DA does nothing.

So i Kill all mysqld processes go to DA and hit start and it works again! WTF

It is set to mysql=ON in services.status
I have upgraded to 4.0.20 (was happening before this - hoping this would fix it)
Upgraded DA, phpMyAdmin, Exim, Perl, ftpPro, etc.

Upgraded EVERYTHING!!!!

And this si still screwed up

Whats wrong?????? DA Support?????

These forums are not the place to get DA tech support.

If you need tech support from DA you should contact them directly by email.

you have to be kidding me!!! a forum for discussing DA is not a place for support on DA and its modules included in the install.

A forum is the best way to do this, it quick it allows for more than one person to help (we all know 2 brains are better than one). and there is a perment record and lesson for the public to learn from my trouble.

All sensitive info can be passed through PMs and this can get solved.

I am not clear to why i cannot ask support on a support forum especially since in DA at the bottom of the help files it says " for support visit the DA forum"

someone please help!

Is it that there tech staff doesn not use the forums?????

No, I'm not kidding.

DA staff reads these forums as time permits, but they certainly handle tech support emails before they go looking through the forums to see if anyone needs support.

If you're just waiting for informal support from someone who knows the answer, then this is as good a place as any, although you may be more likely to get a quicker answer in a forum populated by those who know MySQL well and who may have run into the same problem.

If you expect support from DA you can get it a lot more quickly by writing them and asking for it.

I'm sorry if you misunderstood my points the first time around.

Jeff

LOL, Thanks fr the info, you are more informative then the help files!!!!

Look at the top of the forum Web Control Panel Support Forum!!!!

Thats what i guess threw me off since MySQL was included in the DA package. Well I guess its off to the races on the Vast world wide web!

Thanks!

First off, your server should not be crashing so often. I would take care of that problem first if I were you then if your still having trouble move on to the other less server threatening problems.

Are there always 4 processes and does this occur even if you do a safe restart of the server?
Is there anything in the logs that would indicate why its starting 4 processes. Like is DA not detecting that MySQL is running in the first place so tries to start it again and again or what?
