MySQL Remote with DA Phpmyadmin hangs

Anyhow long story short, I seperated mysql from the localhost and it is working extremely great.

Not only just for security but at the same time it takes off a heavy load off the main httpd. Anyhow I got everything working except phpmyadmin.

I thought by editing the config file in the root phpmyadmin folder , and switching localhost to the IP of the server, everything would work.

The problem now is it doesn't.. phpmyadmin launches, I enter the username and password.. and it just hangs.

Anybody have an idea why it hangs?

I got it to work after some tries and ended up editing the template included by the guys over DA
The prob with the config.inc.php is that it
seems like it doesn't like to use the internal routing IP as it tries to connect to the internet ( instead of using eth1 it uses eth0 which is my public IP and therefore tries to connect to the 10.0.0.* ip via the internet( don't ask yet I have to figure this one out)

when I used the hostname of the server everything starts working
