what is the correct procedure to update mysql 4.0.17 to 4.1.13
under freebsd 5.3 with direct admin

There is no set, correct procedure to do it.
Basically read the upgrade notes on the mySQL website for anything that might affect your data, do the upgrade and enable old password support.

I think there are some threads in the version updates forum which contain other people's methods of doing the upgrade.
 
well i know how to upgrade and using mysql

The point is that i am using direct admin with a 4x version of mysql that is exploitable and i want to update it ot 4.1.13

The thing is that... what dirs i have to link and point to the new version since i am using a version of mysql that is fixed through the direct admin env
