MySQL wont start after rebuild exim

Hi,

Exim dident start so DA support told me to reinstall it.
Well I did and I did also run:


apt-get build-dep exim4
and
apt-get install libperl5.10

after reboot MySQL is status as stopped. When I try to start it in DA I get "an error accourd" but in terminal I get OK, but when I try to stop it in terminal i get FAIL.

Try to go to /phpmyadmin or /roundcube I get DATABAS FAILED.

OS: Ubuntu Server 10.04

Please help me out...

atp-get could be the culprit, I had a similar issue, fortunately it was a virgin VPS so I was able simple to rebuild it (rather extreme but I needed things to work and did not have the time to investigate). A while later I found this article http://planet.mysql.com/entry/?id=23478 which suggests that atp-get creates a new mysql configuration file in either the /etc/my.conf or /etc/mysql/my.conf. can you check those locations for the my.conf file and report the contents of that file ?
