Hey,

I have just got direct admin on my server with OS: Centos 5

For instance www.whd4u.co.uk works and www.auzzhosting.com doesn't work.

Can some one help me and maybe explain what i need to do to get all my domains to work in the browser.

I do know that the ones that work are layed out like this.

ns1.power-dns.co.uk <my ip here>
ns2.power-dns.co.uk <my ip here>

But i have one domain with hostmonster and they wont allow me to add IP's. So it looks like any domain without an ip next to it doesnt work, i dont know if there is something to fix this within direct admin or not but please any help will be helpful :)

Best regards,
Lewis

As I write this, post domains appear to point to a DirectAdmin server. The former points to a site; the latter to a DirectAdmin placeholder.

Whats the point in this forum then?

I thought this was for help but yet I get told to hire some one to fix this.

I didn't make direct admin so only they can answer my problems (and some experts too) but I am here to ask direct admin staff for help, forums are for helping.

I have read many posts and they all say "hire some one" we wouldn't be here if we didn't need help or we would have hired some one and yet again still wouldn't be here!

I honestly think your post was a waste of time!

First point is:

This forum is made by user for users... so, who can help try to help, DA Staff dont always read topics and reply to them.. so, if you want DA Staff to help you, you need to mail them.

Second point is:

jlasman sent you to a direction to investigate.

Other information is: www.intodns.com report

ERROR: Some of your DNS servers do not have A records at all. I could not find any A records for the following DNS servers:
ns1.power-dns.co.uk
ns2.power-dns.co.uk

You must have A records for all of your nameservers.

Seems that your second domain use dns that are not configured for that domain... or, have no A record for the domain.. so.. you prolly made a bad configuration of DNS of that domain (if you own the power-dns.co.uk and you admin your own dns/ns)

Another test i did is ping ns1.power-dns.co.uk and ns2.power-dns.co.uk and none of them resolve, so.. if you own the power-dns.co.uk domain u need to add A records

ns1 A IP
ns2 A IP

Hope it help

Hey,

Thanks for replying.

Please see screenshot of how my name servers look.

I have not touchered anything in direct admin.

I have only registered my name servers put going to my domain > inserting (ns1 & ns2.power-dns.co.uk) > inserting ip's.

This worked for Plesk, I only had 2 add 2 things to plesk and that was ns1 + ip and ns2 + ip.

have you added A records ns1 and ns2? Could you please make a screen of DNS conf of that domain? The problem prolly is there

when u create nameserver from registar you "say" to registar that ns1 is that IP and ns2 is another IP... but you have to generate those A records into your domain aswell...

i mean... you register a domain pointed to ns1 and ns2 previusly configured into your registar panel... but... on the server side of that domain you have also to create the A records for nameservers as i sayd...

So you have to have ns1 and ns2 as A record into your power-dns.co.uk dns settings pointing to the right ip's.

After add those ns everything should start working correctly (just the time to propagate those dns)

Thank you for your reply but I did not understand 1 word of what you just said?
What I wrote was simply that the first domain you mentioned does point to a domain hosted on a DirectAdmin server, with a webpage, and the second domain you mentioned points to a domain hosted on a DirectAdmin server, but with a standard DirectAdmin holding page.

So it appears to work here.
