Hello,

I'm currently hosting my domain on a different server, and i want to setup DNS servers for my accounts to use. My Domain name is hosted on a different server, and I'm going to add a couple of A records going to the nameserver IP's

Now, the question is, how can i create the nameservers in DirectAdmin, since the domain is not being hosted on that server, I don't see my domain name in the dropdown list. What kind of workaround is there?

That's not what i was looking for, but thank you.

Basically, when I'm going to add nameservers in the Reseller menu, i cannot add them, because my domain name is not in the dropdown box. The domain that I'm using to make ns3 & ns4 on is not hosted on this server - rather it's hosted on a different server and I'm looking to point my nameservers to this server.
 
The only reason you need that setting is to reserve the use of an IP#@ for DNS. You don't need it if the IP#s are already resolving on the servers. (I believe the setting may be obsolete, and perhaps we can get John to explain it in more detail.) Because all you really need to do at the reseller level once the nameservers are set up at your registrar is to set them up in the Nameserver section of your reseller login under Set the Nameservers that will be assigned to new users.

And be sure there are ns records in your zone file for the domain you're using for the nameservers, no matter where the zones are hosted.

I've been doing only that for years and it works well for us.

You don't need to "create" nameservers on the Reseller Level -> Nameservers page.
It's essentially just cosmetic, to keep track of things on the IP Management pages.

Just add the ns1/ns2 A records in the zone, and you've just done the same thing.
DA does use those values for the welcome email, to get the IP.. in case the ns1/ns2 values don't resolve yet.. but that's the only downside to not using it.
