I have 3 users over 2 servers, which I would like to migrate to a new DA box.

I have done the user level backups, downloaded them to my local machine, and then uploaded to the /{user}/backups on the new machine ...

However when I try to restore them, I get an error :

Unable to execute your command

Details

File is not of type tar.gz: gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file /bin/tar: Read 10061 bytes from /home/rednax/backups/backup-Aug-11-2006-1.tar.gz /bin/tar: Unexpected EOF in archive /bin/tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

If somebody could help me migrate these 3 user accounts to this new DA box, I would gladly pay them for thier time.

Looks like your initial backup process went wrong.

I've had similair problems, when someone changes files that are being backupped at the same time.

Have you tried redoing the backup?

Furthermore, download the file to a windows computer, and try to unpack it with winrar, it will sometimes give you an idea of what exactly went wrong.

Last, but not least, these backups should be done from reseller level, than you can import them by using reseller level on another server. Works like a charm, most of the time.

I appreciate your help, but now I am even further confused ...

I was told in a different thread, that I should always do backups at the USER level

HONESTLY .... I would gladly pay somebody a few bucks to do this, and be done with it ...

I have so much sh!t to do, I have not got the time to 'play' with this for 3 days now :(

We can do it if we can have root access to the gaining server. We're expensive and have a high minimum; if interested please send an email to the address in my sigline.

Sorry for not getting back here, been quite busy.

What I mean to say was, we usually migrate users to other servers from reseller level, instead of user level.
User level might work, however you'd have to first create the user, I think.
