need working named.conf for debian

Can anyone point me to, or send, me, a working named.conf file (leave out your personalized stuff) that you know works on Debian? I can't get bind to start, and nothing is posted on the problem in /var/log/messages.

Jeff, check /var/log/daemon.log and/or /var/log/syslog
For me default named.conf work fine

The debian named.conf is in /etc/bind/named.conf , there is nothing more special, may be you need to check the rndc configuration and key too. Also you can set the named log file location in named.conf too .
