Hello All,
I am new to DirectAdmin. I have some basic experience with a VPS panel in the past. It was Kloxo/LXAdmin. I found it very logical and well laid out but there is virtually no support and tons of bugs and no real ongoing development (sorry guys).
I am anxious and excited about trying a new panel and getting my sites moved over. I see that the is quite a bit different in many ways so I feel the learning curve may be tough. I have been reading a lot of the help pages and various sites with support for DirectAdmin but a lot of the help pages show outdated versions in the screen shots and do not give detailed explanations or usages for some of the features I want to understand.
What I am looking for is a tutorial guide / walk through of what to do once the panel is installed. So far things seem to be installed correctly and working fine. I have to move over 1 reseller site containing 5 user sites so I want to do it with out making too many mistakes. I have no problem reading and trialing things for experience and knowledge but I do not want to screw things up for this move.
Something that kinda walks you though the main tasks after install. I know I need to:
- Secure server... iptables I guess. Is there any module for this in DA?
- Password changes for instance... root, mysql perhaps and any others that leave holes
- Set up IP's and domain names. I have 2 ip's but no idea how DA uses them... seems weird 1 is server the other is free. I got 2 ips for my nameservers..
Just the idea of the things I want to understand. I have searched the forums but most threads are dealing with specific problems but I may be missing something.
