Hello,

I just took a dedicated server with CentOS 5 and DirectAdmin. I am new to the dedicated server world.

When I was logging into DirectAdmin it was showing this in the Reseller and User areas: "cannot find file: /usr/local/bin/php". A search of this forum showed some posts that said install custombuild then run ./build php.

I installed custombuild following the instructions on this forum, then ./build php. While running the script, everything froze and I was unable to even ping the server. My host got the server rebooted and told me it was a kernel panic. I went in and after following the instructions in the error to delete the .custombuild file, I was able to run ./build php again. This time it got farther, I think it was in the process of compiling PHP, when everything froze again.

I can't find anything in these forums that indicate custombuild being problematic in this manner. Is there something in custombuild that would cause a kernel panic, or do I have something else going on?

A Kernel panic could be a hardware error.

But first verify that your DirectAdmin license is issued for CentOS5.
