Yeah well the topic says it all. i used to use cpanel but i thought hey, why pay this much when i can get direct admin for free and its just as good if not better. Anyway i need some help using it. i found everything ecept the basic things like adding domains, sub-domains, e-mail, domin pointing etc. really need some help on this or a direction to a tutorial on how to use direct admin.

Thanks guys and girls. :D

Also you might want to look at these three help systems, built into DirectAdmin, and available by clicking on the Help icon in the Control panel:

http://reseller.site-helper.com/
http://admin.site-helper.com/

Since DirectAdmin is NOT free, I wonder what you mean when you write get direct admin for free.

Do you mean your hosting company supplies it with your server at no additional charge? If so, then your hosting company should offer you support.

If you've downloaded and/or installed a copy of DirectAdmin from somewhere on the 'net, then you should know that your copy is unlicensed, will not be updated, and may stop working at any time. If so you won't get support anywhere.

To find out more about your license, log in as admin, then click on Licensing / Updates and see the Name in License field.

no, everything on my server is completely legit. it was a free promotion offer that they had i just found out. Oooops. also is there an option in the admin login or anywhere else where nameservers or something have to be added?

Thanks

By they I presume you mean your hosting company. Yes, they can offer you DirectAdmin with a dedicated server, and I presume that's what you mean. I've already posted links to the standard DirectAdmin help system, and floyd directed you to some flash videos. If you still need help you may want to contact your hosting company, as they're responsible for support if you get your license from them.

ok thanks for your help. I now need help with sub domains. I need the domain to point to my whmcs installation etc. so i need it to point to www.domain.com/whmcs/ how can i do that? thanks

Try Searcching for mod_rewrite tutotials - you will need to create an .htaccess file, I think it's what you are looking for.
