new install, database problems

Hi all,

I hope you can help me with this.

I few weeks ago i installed a new server (Centos 4.4) with DA, i moved some websites to it from another server. That worked perfect and the sites where ok.
But then is started to move some cms build sites (Joomla)with databases behind it and recieved database connection errors.

I thought that the backup i created was corrupt so i tried to use PhpMyAdmin, but as soon i wanted it to use PhpMyAdmin on the new server (on the old server it works fine) i get error#2002 saying that er is something wrong with the mysql socket. I went into that but couldn,t find anything wrong.

I decided to test from scrap, so i made a new user and for that user a new database, i installed Joomla, but when i wanted to configure Joomla to connect with the database i just created, Joomla gives me an error saying the credentials are wrong. Double checked it, made a dummy proof user and pass, but stil error wrong credentials.


I think there must be something realy wrong, because PhpMyAdmin does not work either, only i have not enough database knowlegde to find the solution and that why i kindly asked for your help.


I hope this gets solved.

running the same os as you, i just setup new server and didnt have problems, but what php you have on new server? could it be this?. Stayed away from php5 until everyone catches up

Joomla went in with out error

The new server is running PHP 4.4.6, also mysqld is running.
For installing DA, i just used the setup script from DA.

I thought maybe teh firewall is a problem, but i assume that because both Joomla and datbase are on the local machine this shouldn't be a problem, right?
