The MariaDB Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of MariaDB 10.9.1, the first Release Candidate (RC) in the MariaDB 10.9 series, MariaDB 10.8.3, the first Generally Available (GA) release in the MariaDB 10.8 series, MariaDB 10.7.4, the second Generally Available release in the MariaDB 10.7 series (all maintained for one year from their first GA release dates), as well as MariaDB 10.6.8, MariaDB 10.5.16, MariaDB 10.4.25, MariaDB 10.3.35 and MariaDB 10.2.44, the latest stable releases in their respective series.
See the release notes and changelogs for details.

MariaDB Corporation Ab and MariaDB Foundation today announced a new release model for MariaDB Server, by MariaDB Corporation referred to as MariaDB Community Server, centered on the goal of delivering new features and innovation faster to the millions of MariaDB users around the world. Under the new model, new server release series, such as MariaDB 10.7 or 10.8, occur once a quarter, rather than once a year, bringing more opportunities for new features and contributions to be delivered to the MariaDB user base.

Starting with the next major update, the new MariaDB Server release series will be available on a quarterly basis and each release series will be maintained for one year. In collaboration with Linux distributions, some release series will be selected for longer maintenance windows, expected to happen at least every other year.

like new smartphones.. more features - less stability :(

Yeah, I'm not a fan of what they are doing with all these releases. Looks like 10.6 is the latest long term supported release. I'm still on the 10.5 series myself.

I think with such scheme I will stay at 10.6 till 10.12 or some great improve in new version, 99% clients need stability/compatibility - not features.
As for me old scheme was optimal - each new mysql ver becomes with new php ver.
