Hello,

I just signed up for a server, and had them install Direct Admin on it for me.

They setup the server and assigned 1 ip address on the server though I get 8 total.

Under "Admin" settings / "Server Settings" I see

"Server HostName" cp.dalessi.com
"NS1": ns1.dalessi.com
"NS2": ns2.dalessi.com

My question is how do I (Correctly) setup the servers DNS since they only setup (1) one ip?

I have done the following but am not sure it is correct:

1. I added the rest of my ip's to the server.
2. I assigned one (1) additional ip to "ADMIN".
3. I changed to the "Reseller" screen and clicked on "Nameservers"
4. I checked each of 2 "ip" numbers listed and clicked on "Create" (NS1 and NS2 with the domain I added

I now see the root ip of the server, and the one (1) additional "ip" address I assigned to "Admin" listed under "Name Servers".

Name Servers

IP Status User(s) Nameserver Select
216.240.151.10 server 1 ns1.dalessi.com
216.240.151.11 free ns2.dalessi.com

Is this correct?

I am a brand new Directadmin Control panel user so I am very cofused.

I read that to add a DNS server for a "Reseller" you use 2 ip addressed excluding the main "Server" ip, but for the server in general I only saw the root ip and the one (1) additional ip I assigned to "ADMIN" so I am very confused.

Thank you very much in advance for any help you can give me.

That is for resellers other than the Admin's reseller.

It looks like it's set up right. If it works you'll definately know.

Also don't forget to register those nameservers with your registrar.

Thanks for the feedback.

I registered the Name servers but have to see if it works as they propigate through the system / Internet.

Thanks for the feedback.

I think I like DirectAdmin, I need to get use to it and learn how it works.

There is only an online manual I believe, as thats all I have found. It seems pretty complete, as even a Newbie like myself can servive this I think.
