It's been a long day and I need someone to tell me right from not so right.
How do I tell mydomain.com to look for the files on my server new server?
I had DA set up a couple days ago. I followed the new install instructions and set my 'Main Domain', then allocated 2 IPs for the name servers, which are currently set up. So here's the situation...
I have mydomain.com(the 'Main Domain') still registered with my previous host. I can't register my ns records there, that's fine, I'll move them to GoDaddy or something else.
Once they're on GoDaddy, I'd register my dns name servers with them, then change the custom dns to point to those NS's?
What is the 'Main Domain' referring to?
Also, I'm hosting sites for other people (hence the DA cp) how will they point to my server for their files? I'll give them ns1.mydomain.com and NS2.. but will they also have to register the DNS NS with their host?
It seems to me that if I'm hosting the 'Main Domain' at Godaddy, but have to set NS records to point to my server, it wouldn't actually be possible because you'd have to register the DNS NS with them first before the custom NS, but if my NS records are ns1.mydomain.com and the domain is mydomain.com there is no way for GoDaddy to know where to look.
I've been programming and trying to work out this issue all day. Someone please keep me from having an aneurysm. Thanks
