I've been getting headaches about this problem. 2 weeks ago one of our servers decided to not run clamav as usual but take a lot (up to 10 times) longer to scan files. A few days ago a customer complained about not being able to send emails on account of malware being sent. Seems the zip file he sent (900k) with 679 html files took too long to scan, causing a timeout and the error message of the mail being blocked on account of triggering the malware acl.
Now, manually, scanning the unpacked zip file takes about 1'11". On any other server it takes around 7".
There's no error message on the screen, there's no error message in the logs. All that's visible is the time it takes and the occasional transition to biowr and biord states (as shown by top).
Searching for anything related to our problems doesn't yield any usable results. Does anyone have any idea?
All servers running identical setups of FreeBSD 7.0.
