Hi
I've two main site on different server,in order to get more stability.I want to one of the domain have two nameservers.such as:
domain:domain.com
nameserver1:
NS1: ns1.now_provider.com
NS2: ns1.new_another_provider.com

then in nameserver2:
NS1: ns1.new_another_provider.com
NS2: ns2.new_another_provider.com

So,when nameserver1 is down.It will go to nameserver2 and find the mirrow site at the server.new_another_provider.com.

I want to know is it work when the two nameserver belong to different registars in different countrise.
the nameserver2 is DA panel and I want to use "add zone" to add the domain(which registar is nameserver1's registar) records:
name:"domain.com"
Ip:"the server's shared ip"
name server1:"ns1.new_another_provider.com"
name server2:"ns1.new_another_provider.com"
Now,all I need to do is to change the NS2 of nameserver1.Is it right?

Regards

Peter,

I think you may not fully understand what you're doing.

You need no more than two nameservers. If they're running on the same machine than ns1.example.com should point to one machine and ns2.example.com point to the other machine.

Or

If you want you can have ns1.one.exmaple.com and ns2.one.example.com, each pointing to it's own machine.

Each machine should point to sites on itself.

That's actually as simple as I can explain it.

Hi Jeff
here is a example which I want to do:
e.g. domain:google.com
One nameserver is in US,such as:
e.g. NS1:ns1.google.com
NS2:ns2.google.com

Now,we set another mirror site in England which has such nameserver:
e.g. NS1:ns1.england.com
NS2:ns2.england.com

The question is:if the server in US down,we want it point to the mirror site.
so,we make change as following:
nameserver is in US:
e.g. NS1:ns1.google.com
NS2:ns1.england.com
nameserver is in England(which using DA panel):
Add a zone of google.com at local nameserver.

Is it right?

Now you've managed to confuse me twice :( .

I just can't get my brain around what should be fairly simple.

I've explained how to do it in multiple posts on this forum previously; perhaps one of the other explanations will help.

Otherwise perhaps someone else can help.

Anyone?

Jeff
