Hello,

Currently the domain monkey8.com is running eNom nameservers... pointing doming to our IP. (Only 1 IP address)

Under DNS Management ::
Domain: Monkey8.com
the details are correct and there are 2 NS records saying
monkey8.com. NS ns1.monkey8.com
monkey8.com. NS ns2.monkey8.com

Under Administrator Settings ::
Server Settings
Nameserver 1 is ns1.monkey8.com
Nameserver 2 is ns2.monkey8.com

Under IP Management ::
IP:: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Status:: server
Reseller:: blank
User(s):: 1
Nameserver:: blank
Netmask:: .....etc etc

Now I just created ns1.monkey8.com and ns2.monkey8.com from eNom. with both pointing the same IP address

So if it successful created and propagated, will it able to point to the server and go to the domain account?
Or there is more needed to do?

Why I asked, I have another server that was setuped by DirectAdmin, under IP management is
IP:: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Status:: server
Reseller:: blank
User(s):: 1
Nameserver:: ns1.mcyzone.net (current server domain)
Netmask:: .....etc etc

Can DirectAdmin or anyone lead the way for us?

Thanks

Hello,

I did something again, in just few minutes after my first posts.

I went to Reseller Level > Nameserver
Then I selected the main IP and then added Nameserver in! (ns1.monkey.com, ns2.monkey8.com)

Although it only adds ns1.monkey.com so i leave it like that...so I went back to ADMIN LEVEL. and went to DNS management, and saw they added an A record

ns1.monkey8.com A xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

So I did the same and added
ns2.monkey8.com A xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Under IP Management::
On Nameserver it says :: ns1.monkey8.com

Do you think this is how it works with 1 IP?

Thanks

It looks as if eNom nameservers don't allow you to have two nameservers on the same domain pointing to one IP#.

You might want to ask their tech support.

each name server must have its own IP address

each name server must have its own IP address and you always need to have 2 name servers - therefore 2 IP's

That's a bit of an oversimplification.

We have many nameservers pointing to a single domain (we do contract Slave DNS hosting).

What we don't have is ns1.example.com and ns2.example.com pointing to the same IP#.
