Optimal config & install DA for first time.

hi everyone,

i've just get a lifetime lincese and install success directAdmin on my vps. But this is first time i using directAdmin on my vps, So I want to ask you for more experience using DirectAdmin, please guided me to install additional plugins or additional addons to optimize vps and stable performing.

My VPS install on Centos 6.4 minimal (im reading on guide installing talk about "Clearn OS" But I did not know there was minimal centos called "Clearn OS" or not) with virtual hardware it's on :

CPU : 4 cores xeon 3.5 ghz
Ram 4 GB
Swap : 4GB

I'm php developer for game, so i want install some softwares :
1.wordpress
2.small textbase game
3.Flash games (actionscripts) (not is mini game).

please guided me to install additional plugins or additional addons to optimize vps and stable performing.

I'm sorry if my english not good, but please guide me the best way

Hello,

The defaults are enough good for the beginning. They are well tested and suit the most needs. If you don't know where is a bottle-neck and weak point on your server and configuration we hardly can give you any suggestion. What is good on my server might bring your server down if to use without knowing details. So start using your box and monitor it and then you might see what requires optimization.

What else you could do now is to improve basic system security on your server following this guide: http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=247
Be carefull and follow steps from there only if you fully understand what is it for and how it will affect your services.

Hello zEitEr, thank for your nice guiding. seems i have already deficiented more configs, so i'll reading and trying those steps.

At the momment i want ask you fews questions about DA, sorry if my question noob beacause this first time im using it to manager a server

1/ Still now, i'm using shared hosting with DA in some single projects so i see on users control panel have a seem as plugin with name call "Resource usage" and some screenshoot follow :



I's helpful for me so Im looking for this plugin but still not founded yet, would you like guide me about that ?

2/ i reading more on this forum as i saw more recommend about do not need using any software like "Cache". at the momment im using nginx as proxy for apache, would you like guide me about that ?

3/ i've buy a DA lifetime license from 3rd Provider, i want using DA as main managerment software so i want ask about will JBMC support me as your customer ?. in the future i must be changing vps IP, may i request JBMC changing ip for me or not ?

4/ my license registerd at centos 6.x - 64bit but when i upgrade to my OS to higher seem as 7.x, can i do it ?
5/ im a php programmer and this is first time im using DA to manager server then some config & install may be misstake more, so can i install directadmin on my localhost (my PC) to test complete before install on server ?

No, thank you. While I offer both free and commercial plugins I don't advertise any from third parties.

I don't get your question. If you already use nginx+apache. What else guide do you need?

That's hardly. You'll need to contact your hosting company from which you bought license.

Directadmin does not support Windows. If you run Linux, you will still need to have a valid license for it.
