I'm unsure 100% on this but i have noticed some of our resellers get around purchasing more diskspace and bandwidth from us by allocating a small amount to the user and then unticking the suspend at limit box.

This means they can over sell their account by stealth up to the reseller limit.

What does anyone think of this?

Worth adressing as an admin or not?

I don't understand, Rob.

Why do you care what the end user is using as long as the reseller isn't going over his limit?

Or do you sell something besides a reseller limit?

Hi Jeff,

Ok - I'll try and explain a little clearer - as your questions made me think about it even more!

We do not over allocate our servers - if a client buys 1Gb - they have access to 1Gb and can use it.

We also through removing the tick in the 'Allow reseller to oversell' function do not allow resellers to over allocate and therefore oversell their reseller accounts.

This is how we've chosen to do biz - and IMHO it 'generally' lends to quieter, faster servers (there are always exceptions of course)

If the reseller sets up users with minimum limits but sets them not to suspend at limit they can then fill their reseller account in such a way that we are not happy with.

Actually this has only happened with 1 reseller from multiple servers so it's not such a big deal but it showed me a way around the 'allow resellers to over sell' option (although I know that as the DA control panel sees it they are not technically overselling - they are underallocating)

I guess I'm saying 2 things - I'd like the option to stop this happening - because 1. It closes the loophole that allows the reseller accounts to be over allocated and 2. Would be better for biz as resellers would need to purchase more webspace / bandwidth.

I understand your point quite a bit better, Rob, but since the reseller is in full control of her/his account, I'm still not sure what you mean when you write:
resellers would need to purchase more webspace / bandwidth.
It appears to me that all the reseller would have to do would be to lower the allocation on one of his/her clients, and raise it on another.

Or am I missing something?

:p
