I have a strange situation where I can login to my new reseller's DirectAdmin page, but he cannot. He's goes to the correct URL and pastes in his username and password, then gets "Page cannot be displayed" (so I know it's not a username or password error).

Any ideas?

Are you doing your login from admin, or are you logging in directly from the login page?

If you're logging in from the login page, and he can't, then his ISP may be blocking port 2222.

I'm logging in directly from the login page (Firefox and IE7) with no problem. He gets the DA login page but when he inputs the same username and pw as I've given him, he gets "Page cannot be displayed" for some reason.

Presuming you and he are logging in directly to his account using the same password and login, then I'm not sure what could be causing the problem but you should be able to look at the directadmin log to see if it's returning any error when he tries to log in.

I don't see anything in the logs, so at this point he's contacting Roadrunner to see if they have blocked the port 2222 for some reason. Thanks, Jeff.

Okay, it's not his ISP nor his firewall software. I asked him to check his router next. Sheesh, I can't imagine what it could be!

You might want to contact DirectAdmin support to see if they have any ideas.

Turns out it was a firewall issue after all, since if he turns off the firewall in CA Security Suite, the problem is solved. Now he wonders how to allow just port 2222 without disabling the entire firewall, but I'm not familiar with that one. If anyone has the answer, I'll pass it along, but at this point at least the client knows the issue is not DA-related.

Thank you for your responses, Jeff. You're a gentleman and a scholar. :)

You're welcome. I didn't follow that line of reasoning because I thought from your replies to my questions that the user could see the login screen, which also runs on port 2222.

Very true, he could see the login screen, which also made no sense to me (unless the login screen is a sort of gateway into port 2222).
