Hello,

Before migrating totally to DA i used lot of control panel systems, mostly CPanel...

Now, over DA i don't have a certain feature which i used a lot before: parked domains.

What i mean by this: if i have domains x.com (as main domain) and y.com (as parked), when i access y.com i see site of x.com but url stays y.com. On DA there is a redirect instead.

This feature (parked domains) is usefull for me since i am developing sites which are working based on same site engine...

Over DA i can accomplish this by overwriting httpd.conf of each domain, and then updating file permissions to not be overwrited by DA, but this is sometime annoying. I am wondering if there is a module or something to make thins thing (and maybe to work even after backup-restore.).

What you're writing about doesn't sound like a parked domain to me. To me a parked domain is a domain that points to a page that says something similar to coming soon, similar to what DA creates automatically when you create a new domain (you can change that to say anything you want, including full site functionality).

What you want to do can be set by creating an alias (be sure to check the alias box.

Thanks for your reply.

Indeed, is possible with an alias.... I forgot to say one thing...

Using an alias is impossible to create emails for all domains involved. Just for base domain is this possible.

Of course. an alias is an alias.

If you want to set up a parked domain with emails, simply create it as a domain but don't give the owner the DA login information.

As I wrote previously, you may want to change the default new domain script installed by DA, or replace it with a redirect.

Redirect is bad as i said, i don't want redirect.

So, if new domain script is overwrited then even after a backup restore the settings will be keept ?

Ok, let me show u a sample:

www.quattrorent.com
www.quattrorent.ro

This is made using alias, they using same site engine. I can have emails only on quattrorent.com since he is base domain.

So, what i need is a solution to have email over both domains. Also, if it's needed to move DA account from one server to other (using backup-restore) the whole configuration to be restored properly.

If you've set this up in DA as an aliased domain then email addresses are alaised as well as the website. If you've got [email protected], then the same mailbox receives email from [email protected].

And backup and restore of the main domain will also backup and restore the alias.

If you want the mailboxes to be separate, no you can't do that from the DA control panel.

Jeff

I know this is not possible directly from DA.

But, on CPanel after parking a domain i was able to create email accounts both over base domain and parked (aliased in DA case) domain.

I was thinking maybe there is a plugin who can enable such functionality.
