Hello,

For the server configuration DA that should be used in primary or logical partition?

What do you think?

It's for 2 Disk 750 Go Raid 1 hardware

1 primary ext3 / boot - 100 MB
2 primary ext3 / - 10,000 MB
3 primary swap none - 16,384 MB
4 logical ext3 / tmp - 2000 MB
5 logical ext3 / var - 50,000 MB
6 logical ext3 / usr - 15,000 MB
7 logical ext3 / home - 656,516 MB

Cordially

Looks like Linux, so I'll respond accordingly:

You probably don't need a /boot partition though you may still want one. Recent kernels for over a year now (maybe a lot longer) don't need a separate boot partition; we've created boot as a directory rather than a partition in 250G drives; I know people who've done it in larger.

You don't need all that space in /var; probably no more than 15 GB. Because DirectAdmin stores email in /home.

Most OS distributions recommend no more than 512 MB swap partition, and we've been using that on more recent systems. There is some anecodtal evidence that large swap partitions actually slow the server down. Certainly by the time you're into even 512 MB of swap space your system will be running slow enough that you'll want to restart leaky services.

Put the space you sav on /var and swap, into home.

That's what I'd do.

Jeff
