So, a while ago I went ahead and changed the password individually for DA, main FTP account and Main Database account, and all went well, except for the FTP account. I can't use the same password I employed when changed the default one, and I can't reset it either for obvious reasons, without the host having to reset all the passwords. So is there indeed a bug in the password system in this particular version?

Are you an administrator of a server running DirectAdmin, or the client of a hosting company? If the latter, you'll need to get support on this from your host, and your host would need to report a bug if any.
Because the problem cannot be adequately addressed without knowing what settings and/or other changes the server administrator may have made to the server, as an end user we really can't help you, because we just don't know the state of the system.

Contact your hosting provider to solve this problem, please. We can not do anything about it.

I agree. There are too many variations in how DirectAdmin may be configured (and even in OS versions on which it runs, and how passwords are encoded) for anyone but your server's administrator to work on this. If he or she needs support, then he or she may post in this thread or use another, or contact directly with DirectAdmin support or a third-party support provider.
