Permission Denied

How do I set permissions to upload files?
I keep getting 'permission denied' . I've tried ftp (through Dreamweaver) and directadmin access - always the same result.
The help files makeno mention of permissions being required.

Braiswick, are you a reseller or a system administrator of your own system?

If you're a reseller the question really needs to be directed to your hosting company.

I am also having the same problem, trying to use my FTP account through Dreamweaver, I am getting free hosting through www.frihost.com The permissions are set to 777, meaning readable and writable for everyone, the directory that is, yet when I hit the test button in dreamweaver, I get access denied. I have many files to upload, and I don't feel like using the generic uploader to upload 3 files at a time... I need help!! thx

kronso23, my response applies to you as well. Only your hosting company has the ability to troubleshoot this for you.

I had this same problem today. however, creating a NEW ftp account for this user seemed to fix the problem. now it works.
