I'm interested in running php 7.4 on a 9 release.
I know it's not officially supported but apparently it's possible according to this article:
https://idroot.us/install-php-7-4-centos-stream-9/

My question is, if I install it that way, how would it work with directadmin - meaning normally directadmin handles the php install - so if I install 7.4 outside of directadmin, will it still work? And can you use the php version selector in directadmin or that wouldn't work?

Also, if I install 7.4 manually, can directadmin still install version 8 separately?

I read some other threads that said there is a guide on this forum somewhere but I couldn't find it, so any tips would be appreciated.

Yes with tricks maybe it could be possible to install php 7.4 (by remi) but then you cant use the CB features anymore I assume.
The 9. x release is to be used with the the latest SSL version which don't support older php then 8.1

I don't recommend this way of working but its your server so you decide
