PHP File Upload Manager

One of my new customers was using a tool called php advanced file transfer manager at his previous hosting provider. It is an old, buggy, unsupported script that has a few neat features.

I am looking for a replacement, which preferrably has logins, passwords, directory creation, etc. that is reliable and safe. His provided a nice little tool that kept up with how many downloads per file.

Any suggestions?
