Php5 and mysql5 upgrade

i need to upgrade php4 to php5 and mysql4.1 to mysql5 version. I saw on the forum link: http://www.directadmin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22587&highlight=mysql+update
Can I safely use script or there is any other way to upgrade this services?

or mabe I should recompile only the mysql and add php5 as additionally ?

But it's not able to update PHP So, you will have to use CustomApache or CustomBuild for it (but CustomBuild includes MySQL 5.x, so I don't think you will need anything more than it).
