phpBB : Critical Error

This error popped up about 2 days ago and we didn't change anything to cause it. We were wondering if the server has been down and if it'll come back up anytime soon.

Could not connect to the database

Is MySQL running? Did you change the password for the user or databases that phpBB uses? I very rarely use phpBB, so I'm not too familier with their error structure, but just look at all the things related to getting from point A to point B. If it's an external database server, make sure it's responding.

MySQL is contradicting itself. In the MySQL databases in the User Panel, I get this error.

Error connecting to MySQL: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

But in Server Information it claims to be running.

We swear we never changed a single thing. We only use the board and haven't changed any PHP code since we set it up.

I would check the config.php file for any changes and also permissions and paths on files and folders before I hit the panic button.

I had this error when I installed DA with the custombuild option....... So, I had to nuke it all
