phpmyadmin error

So I'm getting this error when I try to login to phpmyadmin Error #2002 - No such file or directory.

Now the server is setup and running properly, I can still install databases but I cannot edit anything in them using phpmyadmin. Also when trying to install stuff through Softaculous I get a database error. So there's something wrong here and I just can't figure it out.

Specifications: Debian 8, Custom Build 2, php 5.5, mod_php, mariadb 10.00, using apache 2.4.



Edit: Fixed this by setting the server from localhost to 127.0.0.1 in the phpMyadmin config.inc.php file. Did the same for Softaculous and no problems.

So probably you're missing the related line in /etc/hosts file for localhost.

No you're wrong on that one, it was in the hosts file but it was not accepting localhost which is weird.
