PHPmyAdmin issues

According to this board, it looks like there are several issues with phpMyAdmin. I have created the appropriate db and so before starting with phpMyAdmin, can anyone answer some questions:

1. The user id and password have to manually be entered. Is this correct. or does DA do this for you somewhere.

2. What are the other issues I need to know to ensure a smooth ride.

da just loads the phpmyadmin page. Phpmyadmin is configured for http authentication, so you just enter your username and password for the specific database you were using, since many users will multiple ones. there is probably a way to pass the username/password through the address bar, but that would be most likely less secure.
