How hard can this be?

As per instructions but it still doesn't work.

And -- why does Cert Request info clear and is not stored?

Anyone else have probs adding a cert?

Yes
Yes and
Yes
:-)

I am using RapidSSL -- the bought one wouldn't go in so I went and got a free one to try. It worked fine.

RapidSSL issued a new cert for a new request and key but this will not install.

A bit puzzled I am at the moment.

Tried all that -- time and time again.

Still doesn't work.

And -- as I check.

When I generated the request for the free cert to try -- I left out the www. in the common name.

Got the Secure Cert and pasted it in. Didn't work.

Just by chance I tried https on the full name including www. and thats when it worked.

Can I repeat this?? -- not as yet. lost the free one now.

Also -- should the 'Request Info' not stay on screen after the save?

"Didn't Work" is a bit vague.

It appears that the cert did get installed, but it just wasn't work when you try the site without the "www".

Certs require the common name match the hostname & domain name typed into the browser exactly or you'll get a name mismatch error but the cert will still protect the site.

And I'm not sure what you mean by "Request Info" as there's nothing called "Request Info" on the screen.

Do you mean the data you typed in to request the CSR?

If so, then no, that doesn't have to be kept.

What has to be kept is the private key, and that's always kept internallly by the system, and usually externally on the screen.

For the future, our certs are functionally equivalent to RapidSSL certs and are produced by GeoTrust; the same folk who produce the RapidSSL certs. See our announcement in the 3rd-Party sub-forum here.

Would it be possible for a link to be added to the help screens after all the instructions >> OR if you want us to do the job for you @£35 or whatever click here. :-)

If it was there when I started you would have had the sale.

We don't have an automated method for selling Certs yet :( .

I'll push to have it completed.

Thanks!

Jeff

I seem now to have a secure cert installed through the control panel . BUT !!!
Its not to domains/domain.com/private_html/index.html

but to var/www/index,html

Now what do I do?

I KNOW !!!!
Jeff one purchase coming up -- I have had enough.

Thanks :) .

Either way, though...

For which domain do you want the server to work? The main server domain? Or some other domain?

How do you want the cert to work?

Do you want it to work for the :2222 logins?

For the webmail logins?

Or just for content?

Or for any or all of the above?

All require different installation techniques.

Jeff

It looks as if the domain name is question is also the hostname of the server.

Is it?

Jeff

If the server hostname is www.example.com or example.com, then there is no private directory, as the default html directory for the hostname of the server is at /var/www/html.
