prefix for tables? plz help

I am trying to set up phpbb and it asks me for the 4 main

Database Server Hostname / DSN:
Your Database Name:
Database Username:
Database Password:
Prefix for tables in database: phpbb_

what is this prefix for tables? phpbb_ and when i press install it says cannot connect to database is this the reason?

Try localhost (one word) instead of local host (two words).

You don't need a prefix unless you're going to use the same database for multiple programs.

The database prefix is not the cause of the problem, and the one you have by default is fine.
