Hello

I'm running a VPS which I run with webmin together with virtual hosting module. I'm quite happy. Now I'm considering moving to directadmin.

1. I have the impression that DA is such a big program that it doesn't leave much room for flexibility. Is that just an impression?

2. Do you use DA primarily for hosting or are there any other usages?

3. Webmin is not resource intensive and is quite flexible (many modules, ability to write/change programs). What about DA?

4. How flexible is DA when talking about upgrading apache, php, mysql, ...?

If I want to run apache 2, will it brake many functionality? (bandwith usage, ...)
If I want to upgrade to the latest version of php, should I do this through DA, or may I compile and upgrade myself?

Thanks
JohnQM

i use DA for web hosting about 1 year now.

my word: DA is very flexible and reliable, so far there is no any problem on DA side.

it has it's own "customapache", so any important software such as openssl, php etc can be easily upgraded, very simple to use, just run ./update softwarename :)

DA os a hosting control panel. What other uses would you use it for?

DA is not resource itensive; it's not as flexible as Webmin because it serves a completely different purpose; Webmin allows an experienced administrator (and some not so experienced) to manage a server, while DA actually manages (to a great extent) a shared webserver.

DA does not work with Apache 2; it installs the latest version of apache 1.x.
