private_html is set to 777?

Just curious since this is a symbolic link to public_html, when it's created it seems to have permissions set to 777 instead of 755, should this be set this way? DA is the first webserver I've used that utilizes a private_html link (or even folder, for that matter).

it safe, it still check permission of target link.
