problem mysql error

Hi, i have in diretadmin a message error :

Error connecting to MySQL: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

I have suphp, php4 and php5
I don't now why the server mysql not work in DA.
i arrived to connect in admin , and admin is runnig ? I arrived to create user , but not database..

EDIT : when i clic on strat or stop Mysqld in DA i have this error : An error has occurred

Please help me .... is very important because tomorrow I have another server that stops, I have to transfer 15 sites.

You have to figure out why its not working. There should be an error log: /var/log/mysql/hostname.err

i have just slow-query.log in /var/log/mysql/
and in :

/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld, Version: 5.0.90-log (MySQL Community Server (GPL)). started with:
Tcp port: 0 Unix socket: (null)
Time Id Command Argument

???
Mysql stop now and not restart
