Hi,

I recently purchased a dedicated server and it comes with directadmin pre installed.

I cant seem to recieve emails on the server allthough it sends them fine.

I can see that the test email accounts usage is increasing but I'm not recieving any emails in both webmail and windows live mail.

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance.

Scott

These lines from your log show that mail is being delivered to the scott account.

Are they being filtered out by SpamAssassin or by the Spam Filters? Check your settings.

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

My spamassasin is turned off and I cant see any other settings that would mark them as spam.

Im stumped. anything else I can try ?

Have you manually checked the mailboxes? Have you checked your queue?

Jeff

Using a shell login as root, find the mailbox (the location differs depending on whether you're using mbox or Maildir, and whether the mailbox is a user or a virtual mailbox) and see if the email is showing up. Theck the mailqueue (subdirectories of /var/spool/exim) and see if the mail is there.

We can find your problem for you as a commercial service if your systems administration skills leave something to be desired; feel free to contact me by email for details and rates.

In the long run you should learn system administration skills, but it's a bit hard to worry about that if you can't get your email.

Jeff

ok think ive managed to navigate to the maildir folder, this is whats in there :

cur
dovecot-uidvalidity
subscriptions
dovecot.index.log
dovecot-uidvalidity.4cd89be4
tmp
dovecot-uidlist
new

Is there suppossed to be something else in there ?

Thanks in advance

Emails should be in the new directory until they're read, and in the cur directory afterwards, unless they're deleted upon download, in which case they're deleted when they're downloaded (obviously).

If the emails are in those folders but you're not able to download them, then delete all files beginning with dovecot and try the email client again.

Jeff

Thanks Jeff,

Ive searched all the folders and there all empty :(

The strange thing is when I check the exim mainlog it looks like everythings working fine, It says that emails have been recieved etc.

Im stumped. Do you think its worth reinstalling directadmin ? and is this something I can do remotly or would I need my host to do it ?

Thanks for your help its most appreciated.

Scott.

In theory it's never worth reinstalling. In practice it could get you up and running, though of course there are no guarantees because we just don't know what's happening or why.

You can reinstall DirectAdmin yourself, but it will leave all your directories, and yet a lot won't be visible to DirectAdmin. I'd suggest you start with a clean drive if you go that route.

I'd also suggest you think of hiring someone to look at your server and figure it out; it's got to be something simple.

Check my footer :)

Hi,same problem was for me,just reinstall exim !
Code:
cd /usr/local/directadmin/custombuild
