Hi all i have upgraded from 1.25 to 1.29

Acutally i have installed Fedora Core 5 and than new install of 1.29
than Backup & Restore.

i have faced few issues and i will be glad to get help

1) in my old DA system i had domain xxx.blabla.com and i had 'catch them all account' which mean all emails that has been sent to *@xxx.blabla.com
have been forward to a single mailbox or email addr

i couldnt find that option in the 1.29 version and i have 2 domains which doesnt get emails at all :(

2) i have few websites with JOOMLA now when i check thoose sites few modules in the joomla has been report problem with the permissions

i have examine the old server and notice that few files in the JOOMLA directory has been owned by apache.apache

in the new server it is owned by the user

therefore i have replace the owner to apache.apache and it works :D
althought i wonder why i had to change it manually bcz backup & restore
should had take care of it.

3) i wonder how can it be that JOOMLA websites creates files as apache.apache inst that risky ??

Best Regards

Catchall email has become a serious problem over the last year, resulting domains getting thousands of spam emails.

For that reason, catchall is no longer an automatic option. Catchall email permission now needs to be added to packages, also to existing resellers, and then their users. Perhaps something can be changed in DirectAdmin to restore the catchall settings if they exist. Let's bring this to DA staff attention.

The restore is obviously using the user ownership for all files. I don't know if this can be fixed or not. We'll ask DA staff.

Joomla is running through apache. Personally I think it a lot more risky for apache to run as root, which is what it would have to do to create files as individual users.

There are some workarounds, which have been discussed on these forums; perhaps someone else will describe them, or perhaps you could search the forums yourself for other workarounds (hint: search for joomla).

okay i think i prefer that apache will run as suid root
and spawn shell as the user id rather than run as apache

where can i find article which cover this issue
