Problem with SSL: You can only add a certificate if you own the ip you are using

Hello all,

I need various SSL certs throughout my server. From the User-Level I select SSL Certificates and get the error "You can only add a certificate if you own the ip you are using". Before this, I did not have a reseller account, so I then converted the user to a reseller and added a second IP to the server in Admin Level

Note: When I added the second IP the first time it gave me an error stating something along the lines of the IP is already in use by eth0, which is true. It is actually assigned to eth0 as a virtual IP. Even after that it seemed to add it successfully, I removed it from the list and re-added it and didn't recieve the error.

So, here is my problem... I want the reseller in question to own the main IP on the system so that I can add SSL certs, but I cannot because there are currently multiple users sharing that IP. Does anyone know of a proven way for me to temporarily transfer the users to the secondary IP, assign ownership of the main IP to my reseller, and then reassign the users back to the main IP so that I can create SSL certs?

Any help is appreciated.

You always have a reseller no matter how you add them. If you are adding users directly under admin then admin is the reseller. Assign the ip to the reseller from admin ip management then assign that ip to the user in reseller level.

...then assign that ip to the user in reseller level.

Thank you, I was confused... I didn't realize I had to do them all individually - this is going to be a pain in the ass :)

Edit: OK, here lies the problem. I want the second IP to be shared... I need to move ALL of the users to the secondary IP temporarily so I can asign ownership of the main server IP to admin, create the SSL certs I need, then move the users back to the main IP. Once I assign the second IP to a user I am unable to assign the same IP to another user (not available in the IP drop-down box).

OK, I got it - you can't do that. I was able to assign the free IP to my main domain user/reseller and can now create SSL certs. Thanks!
