Hello,

I'm having an urgent problem with user backups: nothing gets backuped and I don't get a message form the message system. I'm using DirectAdmin 1.30.1 And I've tried a user backup (from user level) and a the Admin Backup/Transfer (RC1) and none of them do it for me!

Out of pure desperation I've restarted my server, but that didn't fix it, what it did fix were the problems with vacation messages. They didn't work since two weeks before the reset and do now. Maybe it's related!??

Please advice,

Remco Janssen

Check the server's directadmin log file. Also make sure you've got enough space on your server to create the backups.

If you're running backups from a cronjob make sure your crond daemon is running.

Backup still not working

Hi Jeff,

I checked the free space, that shouldnt be a problem, crond is running, restarted it just to be sure, but that didn't help. Other things I tried/checked:

- backuping NOW instead of cron job: no help there
- crond.daily, hourly monthly are all empty.
- when I list cronjobs for root I see the sysbk cron, but nothing else
- cronjobs for admin, diradmin are also non-existent
- manualy run sysbk, this did work, but I got a warning (which I unfortunatly didnt write down)
- whatever I do I don't get any message from the message system. It just seems that the backup doesn't get planned at all.

getting desperate, please advice....

Kind regards,

Remco

I'd bet the warning is telling you that you don't have enough free space. Log in to the control panel as admin, click on System Backup and look at the settings for Minimum disk space required for backup (MB). Make sure that you have at least that much space available in your /home partition (or if home is not on its own partition, on the partition containing home).

Also, check the sysbk log at /usr/local/sysbk/status.log.
