Problems With server mail setup

I am unable to send welcome messages to new customers with they login credentials. I am able to sentd mail however from mail accounts setup on the server but anything that comes from the system does not get sent or is sent but just disappears into thin air. The log is not showing any errors. my hostname is not = to any of the domains on the server is their something that needs to be added to it's dns to solve it?
 
First, check everything mentioned in this article in the DirectAdmin Knowledgebase.

Then check more in the logs. You say the log isn't showing any errors, but surely it's showing something. Follow through an email in the logs. If it's not obvious to you where the email is going, then post the relevant lines from the log (and only the relevant lines) here so we can help you.
