I am getting a lot of spam, 60 - 70 e-mails per day on one of my e-mail addresses. All spam e-mails are in russian.
I tried to set some e-mail filters in directAdmin but it doesn't seem to work.
If I add russian word to Block All E-Mail containing the word and click Block then in Filters list under Value the russian word is not visible and e-mails containing this word are still coming.
So how can I block e-mails in russian?

Also how can I set filters to only one of my e-mail addresses? Filters in DirectAdmin are applied to all e-mail addresses.

The email filters only apply to all email addresses within a particular domain.

Have you set up Spamblocker?

Ok I added english word "testing" as a filter and tried to send myself an e-mail containing that word and I did not receive that mail so filters are working. Next I tried to add same word "testing" as a filter, but I added one russian character in the middle of the word (after "tes") like this "tesЛting". When I added this filter then under value it only shows the word up to that russian character. I can see only "tes". Now if I sent myself e-mail containing word "tes", it was blocked (but it shouldn't be blocked). It seems to block the whole word "tesЛting" only if it appears as "tesЛting" [russian character replaced with code as &_#1051; (without underscore)] in the e-mail message. If it contains actual Л character it does not block the mail. So I think it's some kind of language problem. It cannot even display russian characters in DirectAdmin under filter list.

Hello,

The DirectAdmin word filer is very basic. It's a character-for-character match of words. If you view the source of the spam you get, you can add the encoding that is used for that word into DA.

You can also check /etc/virtual/domain.com/filter to see what excatly DA is adding to the filter, and the filter.conf to manually change anything special if you need to. (add/remove a fake value to rewrite the filter)

If you need any specialized word filters, spamassassin can also do it by editing the user_prefs file to add scores with any encoding you want.
